“Tonight we’re gonna’ kidnap our best friend. And tomorrow? We run.”
I absolutely loved collaborating with superstar kid-lit author Nat Amoore to create We Run Tomorrow, a book that is part novel, part graphic novel, and all completely awesome.
Here’s the cover I made…
A TRULY UNIQUE READING EXPERIENCE
This is an electrifying middle-grade novel about four comic-book obsessed best friends (relatable much?) who each have their own very real reasons for wanting to run away from home.
Beyond the incredible prose, the book also features seven graphic novel segments, illustrated by me, that appear at various points throughout the novel.
To create this ‘story within a story’ experience, I worked closely with Nat to design a team of comic-book superheroes: The Screen Savers. I then illustrated their adventures, which parallel with – and bring new meaning to – the events of the novel.

THE STORY
Sticks, Maki, Jed and Tommy live on the same street. But the adults around them are making decisions that could tear the four friends apart.
When they discover their favourite comic book series is being made into a blockbuster movie, they know what they have to do. Get to the audition. Get the parts. Stay together.
Bestselling author Nat Amoore joins forces with acclaimed graphic novelist Mike Barry (yep, me!) to bring you a story of four kids – and four superheroes – who are taking their future into their own hands.
AND NOW…
